Bill's Restaurant | Review

. Sunday 22 October 2017 .
Last Saturday I visited the Bill's Restaurant in Southampton for lunch with my family. It was my first visit to a Bill's so I was quite excited as I'd heard lots of good things. We had booked a table in advance for 2pm and were seated as soon as we arrived in a nice, big booth that was tucked in a corner near the bar.

Our waiter was really friendly and took our orders quickly. We ordered off the Daytime menu and for starter, we shared the Veggie Mezze platter which included spiced white corn tortillas, grilled garlic mushrooms, crumbed halloumi sticks, chickpea and parsley falafels, black olives, Pico de Gallo salsa, tomato houmous, tzatziki, and smokey tomatoes.

For my main course I had the Halloumi Burger which was served in a brioche bun with sweet chilli sauce (which on reflection I've realised my burger was lacking this), pea shoots, red onion, lettuce, roasted red peppers, tomato houmous with skin-on fries and a garlic lemon mayo dip. I also ordered a side of the falafels. Despite the missing ingredients I really enjoyed my burger but it could have done with a *touch* more filling in my opinion. The rest of my party ordered the Mojo Marinated Chicken Skewers, Macaroni Cheese, and the Lamb Burger. For dessert I had the Banana and Honeycomb Cheesecake with vanilla ice cream which was amazing. It had a slightly different consistency to the cheesecake I'm used to; more of a mousse texture and the base was rustic and more oat-like than biscuit-like. It tasted like a made-fresh-on-site dessert, rather than a pre-bought-pop-in-the-microwave-from-frozen kind of dessert. My family had the Lemon Meringue Eton Mess and Warm Chocolate Brownie. Clean plates were left by all.

I want to do more posts like this as I may as well put my habit of eating out to good use. Let me know if you'd be interested in seeing more restaurant/food-related reviews and recommendations!
